The second edition of WIPS – MedFilm Works in Progress will take place in the framework of the MedMeetings, a call open to fiction and creative documentary projects in post-production stage coming from Italy, Spain, France, Monaco, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Iraq and Jordan.
The project was carried out in collaboration with IOM-International Organisation for Migration and with the support of Lazio Regional Authority.
Six films in competition: Alam by Firas El Khoury (Palestine/Tunisia/France), Distances by Reda Henkam (Morocco), Gli ultimi giorni dell’umanità by Enrico Ghezzi, Alessandro Gagliardo (Italy), A Hero of our time by Mirac Atabey (Turkey), Snow White Dies at the End by Krisijan Risteski (North Macedonia) and About Cairo by Hala Galal (Egypt).
The Jury, composed of Paolo Bertolin (editor, film critic and producer), Elhum Shakerifar (producer, editor and writer), and Christophe Leparc (General Director of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs and Artistic Director of Cinemed Montepellier), will be called, on the 8th and 9th November, to analyse the 6 finalist works by speaking with the directors and producers competing for the prize. At the end of the works, the Jury will award the IOM PRIZE to the Best Film (€10,000) and a Technical Prize offered by Stadion Video (€3,500.00).
