Quando Leo e la sorellina Annetta si svegliano al mattino, la loro mamma Emma dorme ancora nel suo letto. O forse no. Leo e Annetta trascorrono da soli l’intera giornata. Fanno colazione, fanno confusione, giocano. Aspettano, provano la loro vita senza la mamma. Fino all’arrivo della nonna e di Gabriele, il fidanzato di Emma. Fino a quando, con gli adulti e con le parole, l’ambiguità si scioglie, e a suo modo ciascuno va incontro alla sera.

When Leo and his little sister Annetta wake up in the morning, their mother Emma is still sleeping in her bed. Or maybe not. Leo and Annetta spend the entire day by themselves. They have breakfast, they make a mess, they play. They wait, experiencing what their lives would be like without their mother. Until their grandmother and Gabriele, Emma’s partner, arrive. Until, with the adults and with words, the ambiguity dissolves and they all face the evening in their own way.
