With MedFilm Festival 2023, MedMeetings reach their 7th edition, always in the name of the cultural and industrial encounter between the countries and cinematographies of the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Born as a platform to create synergies and cooperation by bringing together authors, producers, distributors and industry professionals, MedMeetings have proven over the years to be an essential forge of projects and talents that after their passage at MedFilm Festival have conquered different audiences and stages. MedMeetings are structured in three different moments: MedPitching for co-production, MedWIPs for post-production and MedTalents for the training of new voices in the world of cinema. The project is supported by the OIM-International Organization for Migration, the MiC, the Lazio Region and Lazio Innova and aims to build new bridges to connect Italian industry with all its sisters in the Mediterranean basin and viceversa.

MEDPITCHING

After the positive experience of 2022, MedPitching returns in 2023 with the renewed mission of offering our professionals a range of promising projects from all over the Mediterranean area, with the hope that they will attract their attention and lead to co-production collaborations. The ten titles selected by Paolo Bertolin compete for the MedPitching Award of €1,000 for the most promising project, which will be voted by the audience of professionals who will participate in the presentation session. If the winning project will become an Italian co-production, another €1,000 will be granted to the Italian counterpart.

The ten selected titles are:

MEDPWIPS

Fourth edition for MedWIPs (MedFilm Works in Progress), curated by Azza Chaabouni, with the OIM Prize, a cash award consisting in 10,000 euros and the Technical Prize offered by Stadion Video, worth 3,500 euros. MedWIPs is a call open to creative fiction and documentary projects in post-production from the countries of the Euro-Mediterranean area.

The six films in post-production that will be evaluated by the jury of experts formed by Fabrizio Mambro, Marco Spoletini and Jana Wehbe are:

    • LE STAGIONI by Gaetano Crivaro, Alberto Diana, Ferruccio Goia, Silvia Perra (Italy)

    • WEAR & TEAR by Sarra Abidi (Tunisia)
      Production: Synergy Productions (Sarra & Ibtissem Abidi)

MEDTALENTS

For the fourth year in a row, MedFilm Talents aspires to create a common space where the members of the Methexis jury, made up of graduating students from the National Film Schools of European and Mediterranean countries, can meet and share their experiences, discover and meet with initiatives dedicated to the development of their first films, connect with industry experts (producers, co-producers, film funds, development platforms).
